Sustainability and the Environment

Sustainability in the Company

We care deeply about our environment!
We place great importance on ensuring a high quality of life for current and future generations
, which is why responsible and environmentally friendly practices and business operations are at the heart of what we do.

That is why we continuously strive to utilize the latest technologies and consistently pursue innovative developments to achieve optimization in all areas of our operations. Some examples of this include: reducing waste and energy consumption, developing environmentally friendly products and services, etc.

Photovoltaic System

By installing 328 modules, each with a capacity of 410 watts, we generate 128,250 kWh; of this, we use 42.59% for our own consumption, and the surplus is fed into the grid.

The cornerstone of our sustainability efforts—our photovoltaic system

Electricity without CO2 emissions: PV systems are among the most environmentally friendly methods of energy generation.

With this new installation, we harness the power of the sun, which is available to us every day as an unlimited and free source of energy.

With the installation of 328 modules, each rated at 410 watts, we generate 128,250 kWh; of this, we use 42.59% for our own consumption, and the surplus is fed into the grid.

In total, we generate enough electricity for 32 households, thereby saving approximately 21,905 kg of CO2. Photovoltaic systems are among the most environmentally friendly methods of energy generation.

A Greater Focus on Sustainability in Building Services Engineering

ULMAN remains committed to sustainability and to reducing and conserving natural resources. As part of the new construction project, the administrative building was already equipped with a hybrid heating system. Over the past few months, this system was expanded to include the logistics warehouse. The existing gas-fired radiant heaters have been supplemented with efficient heat pumps and now serve only as a backup or to provide additional heating when temperatures fall outside the heat pumps’ operating range. Combined with the surplus electricity from the existing PV system, this achieves a high degree of self-sufficiency. The new system is controlled efficiently, sustainably, and on-demand via the standardized KNX bus system, which is already used in many other areas of building technology.

As a pleasant side effect, employees benefit not only from improved heat distribution in the process area but also from supportive climate control during the warm summer months.

LED Lights—A Small Measure with a Big Impact

ULMAN has switched its lighting to LEDs, which reduces electricity consumption and minimizes the carbon footprint. LED lights also have a longer service life, which leads to less waste and lower maintenance costs—and in addition to all these environmental benefits, this allows us to achieve better lighting quality, increase comfort for our employees, and thereby boost productivity.
