Flap Valve
Flap Valve - the reliable solution für demanding pumping media
Diaphragm pumps operate using valves that precisely control the inflow and outflow from the pump chamber and provide a reliable seal. This is the only way to prevent backflow of the medium and ensure a constant flow rate.
Whilst conventional ball valves are used in many applications, they quickly reach their limits, particularly with media containing solids. Foreign bodies, abrasive particles or long fibres can block the flow channels, impairing the valve’s function or even causing it to fail completely.
This is where flap valves demonstrate their stengths: they
allow virtually unimpeded flow of solids up to a defined size. Even long fibres are reliably transported through the pump head over several pumping cycles – without impairing the valve’s function.
The flap valve combines flexible and robust materials to form a particularly durable construction. A flexible elastomer sleeve provides the necessary flexibility of the flap whilst also ensuring a reliable seal. A fully sleeved metal component guarantees the required pressure stability in the inlet and outlet areas. For larger nominal diameters, an integrated reinforcement fabric additionally ensures that even high forces in the hinge area can be absorbed permanently.
Main areas of application:
Suitable for use in the pump industry, regulation and control engineering technology, and for pneumatic drive units.
When and where are flap valves used?
Flap valves are used in the following sectors, amongst others:
- Diaphragm pumps
- Chemical industry
- Food industry
- Water treatment
- Pump industry
- Pneumatic actuators
- Regulation and control technology
What are the advantages of the flap valve?
- Reliable conveyance – Even media containing solids, abrasive substances and long fibres can be conveyed reliably.
- Resistant to demanding media – Suitable for numerous aggressive media and solvents.
- Protects metal from the medium – The fully encased assembly prevents direct contact between the medium and the metal and fabric.
- Long service life – The robust design ensures long-lasting and reliable operation.
- Reduce maintenance requirements – The robust design helps to ensure low-maintenance operation of the plant.
- Keep costs under control – The design can avoid the need for costly special alloys or stainless steels.
- Improve process reliability – Designed to function reliably even under demanding operating conditions.
