DiaphragmsSpherical Diaphragm

Spherical diaphragms have a curved, spherical-shaped geometry and are used when flexible separation of media and reliable pressure and volume transmission are required.

Thanks to their special design, Spherical diaphragms can also be used even with small pressure differentials. Depending on the application, they are suitable for loading from both sides and can be used, for example, for pressure and volume compensation.

What are the advantages of Spherical diaphragms?

  • Reliable separation of media - The diaphragm separates different media zones from one another while allowing for flexible movement.
  • Suitable for low pressure differentials – The design allows for use in applications with relatively small pressure differentials.
  • Load on Both Sides Possible – Depending on the design, the diaphragm can be loaded from both sides.
  • Pressure and volume compensation – The diaphragm can be used in applications where pressure or volume changes must be compensated for.

Where are spherical diaphragms used?

spherical diaphragms are used primarily in applications where media need to be separated from one another while simultaneously compensating for changes in pressure or volume.

Typical applications include, for example:

  • Expansion vessels
  • Pressure accumulators
  • Hydraulic accumulators
  • Pressure shock absorbers
  • Applications for pressure and volume compensation

Depending on the application, the diaphragm can be specifically tailored to the respective operating conditions through its geometry and design.

Designs and Materials

Spherical diaphragms can be manufactured from various elastomer materials. The selection of the appropriate material depends, among other factors, on the medium used, the temperature, the pressure, and the service life requirements.

Depending on the application, special material combinations or reinforcements are also possible.
